I don't take back what I said about vanilla Oblivion's combat being terribly boring, but with the right mods, it just might be incredibly fun- atleast the combat can, anyways. You also are given the ability to automatically switch to first person whenever you are about to fire an arrow, then switch back out to third person if you prefer to play the game from the third person perspective (which I do).Ĭombined together, you get combat almost as fun and "actiony" as Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Unnecessary Violence also features full hit detection, a bleeding system, and a crippling system, where if you perform a special "critical hit", you cripple an enemy's limb (it doesn't work on legs, as of yet, however), causing him to grip it in pain, giving you a free strike. You can also perform a two-weapon attack by hitting the attack and uv attack key at the same time. Offhand attacks can be made using the UV attack key. You can also switch a mainhand weapon to offhand, giving you the ability to dual-wield. You can use the key on it's own or together with the standard attack key to perform even more powerful attacks (with single weapons).

Secondly, you get more attacks to use with a mappable "UV attack key" that gives you access to a PLETHORA of new attacks.

Charge up your throw key to throw farther and harder in order to deal serious damage (if you throw say a knife or sword) or to just simply piss an enemy off. First of all, you get the ability to throw stuff. Unnecessary Violence adds tons of combat features to Oblivion that makes it 100% less boring and 1000% more AWESOME. You can also perform a shield or sword bash, causing enemies to stumble, giving you a chance to perform the impale maneuver as mentioned above. You can cut people in half, decapitate them, impale them then kick them off of your sword, knock them down then stab them (or smash them) while they're on the ground, silently stab them in the neck, and stab them five times in a row if they're sleeping- sort of like that scene from Lord of the Rings where the Nazgul stab a bunch of pillows which they thought were hobbits. Allow me to break it down for you-ĭeadly Reflexes gives players the ability to perform wickedly sick finishing moves and stealth kills, with the addition of one very awesome component: gore. Through the combined powers of the Deadly Reflexes and Unnecessary Violence mods, Oblivion's combat kicks ass.
